Warner 'toon to air on web, cabler simultaneously

The Scooby-Doo gang will be joining the Kids’ WB lineup this fall.

Kids WB has ordered 13 episodes of “All New Scooby-Doo! The Animated Series” (working title) from Warner Bros. Animation. After airing on Kids’ WB in the fall, the series will air on Kids’ WB corporate sibling Cartoon Network.

In addition, Kids’ WB has ordered 13 episodes of “Ozzie & Drix” from Warner Bros. Animation. The comedy is based on characters from Warner Bros. feature “Osmosis Jones.”

“Scooby-Doo” is the first series jointly picked up by Kids’ WB and Cartoon Net. Last spring, the two nets began to jointly sell ad time. In addition to regularly cross-promoting programs, they have explored the idea of co-producing a show together.

“While staying true to the classic elements that have made ‘Scooby’ one of the most beloved shows for over 30 years, this new series will amp up the suspense, the comedy and the quality of the animation to match the expectation of kids today,” said Kids’ WB exec veep Donna Friedman, who announced the news Tuesday at the Television Critics Assn. Tour in Pasadena.

Repeats of the original “Scooby, Where Are You?” air daily on Cartoon Network.
