WCBS-TV has made it official: Ernie Anastos and Dana Tyler are the lead anchor team for the early-evening and latenight local newscasts.
Tyler was given the final piece of the co-anchor puzzle Monday when WCBS installed her — effective Monday — in the 11 p.m. slot with Anastos, succeeding Angela Rae, who returns to WFOR-TV, the CBS O&O in Miami, where she worked 1995-2000.
Anastos and Tyler already anchor the 5-5:30 p.m. and the 6-6:30 p.m. newscasts.
In another change prompted by Rae’s return to Miami, WCBS has made Cindy Hsu co-anchor (with Todd McDermott) of two other half-hour newscasts, at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Hsu, a correspondent, already co-anchors WCBS’ half-hour newscast at noon (with Michael Pomeranz).
WCBS finishes well behind its rivals WNBC and WABC at 5, 6 and 11 p.m. But the station can point to audience gains for all three time periods in the just-completed February sweeps.
