TORONTO — Canada’s broadcast regulator has given a greenlight to St. Joseph Printing’s acquisition of a controlling interest in the religious-themed specialty channel Inner Peace TV.
Concord, Ontario-based St. Joseph is Canada’s largest privately owned printing company, which in the past 18 months has purchased a sizable stable of Canadian consumer magazines to become the country’s third-largest mag company as well. The purchase of 51% of Inner Peace TV is St. Joseph’s first foray into television.
Inner Peace TV, which has yet to bow, is a digital specialty television channel focusing on the Roman Catholic faith. The purchase price of 51% of the channel was just C$102 ($67), with the understanding that St. Joseph will finance the launch of Inner Peace.
The remaining 49% of the company is owned by Canbo Broadcasting.
