FSN goes for more ‘Glory’

Sweeney signed as narrator

The Fox Sports Net has renewed its documentary series “Beyond the Glory” for two more seasons and signed actor D.B. Sweeney as narrator.

The new season of 20 episodes will kick off March 10 with a feature on boxer Evander Holyfield. In subsequent Sundays at 8 p.m., “Glory” plans fresh profiles of Reggie White, Alonzo Mourning, Vince Carter, Gary Sheffield, Kobe Bryant and Dale Jarrett.

Fox Sports Net regards “Beyond the Glory” as the tentpole for its Sunday-night block of original programming, starting with the two-hour “Sunday Night Fights” at 6 and including the hourlong “NASCAR Victory Lane: All Access,” a behind-the-scenes look at drivers, at 9.

This season “Glory” becomes an inhouse production, with Frank Sinton and Steven Michaels as executive producers.

The move is consistent with Fox Sports Net’s drive to build up a library of wholly owned programs, said Read Jackson, VP of original programming for FSN.
