MIAMI — French pay TV programmer Multithematiques’ Eurochannel has inked carriage deals with leading cabler Cablevision of Mexico City and PCTV, an association of provincial Mexican cablers.
Content for the Spanish-lingo channel, which bowed Feb. 1, is dominated by European cinema, rounded out by music, fashion, travel, film fest coverage, and original productions.
The feevee recently signed a deal with satcaster Sky Mexico. Both Sky and Cablevision will include the channel in their basic packages, together representing 1 million subs.
PCTV’s member companies have another 1.7 million potential subs.
Multithematiques separately inked a carriage deal with Caracas-based MSO Supercable, which gives Eurochannel distribution in Venezuela and Colombia, and said the channel will soon finalize distrib deals in Chile and Argentina.
Eurochannel has 2.5 million subscribers in Latin America, including Brazil.
