Fox Searchlight names vet head of prod'n
HOLLYWOOD — Julia Dray, a former president of production for Gary Foster and Mark Steven Johnson’s Horseshoe Bay Prods., has been tapped senior veepee of production at Fox Searchlight, reporting to prexy Peter Rice.
“Julia’s experience developing and producing films with breaking comedy talent provides an exciting new avenue for Fox Searchlight,” Rice said in a statement.
Her recent projects included the live-action “Winnie the Pooh,” “Get a Life,” “When in Rome” and “Cuba Has Fleas,” all at Disney; “The Score” and “Father Knows Best,” at Paramount; “Daredevil,” at Twentieth Century Fox; “Tomorrow’s Child,” at Universal; and “The Bellboy,” at MGM.
Previously, while serving as VP/creative affairs for the Robert Simonds Co., she exec produced “Head Over Heels” and “Screwed” and co-produced “Dirty Work” and “Half Baked.” Dray also served as a creative executive for Walt Disney Studios.
Dray said she was pleased to join Rice & Co. because of its “commitment to finding and fostering new comedic talent.”
