Costas continues with Peacock

Net offers longterm contract, details not revealed

Bob Costas has signed another longterm contract with NBC, scotching rumors that he might sign with ABC so he could cover National Basketball Assn. games on the network.

The clear attraction to continuing with NBC was its ownership of exclusive broadcast and cable rights to the Olympics through 2008. Costas has hosted five previous Olympics telecasts.

Details of the contract were not announced. Last month, Costas renewed his exclusive cable deal with HBO, where he’ll continue to do his “On the Record” series and co-host the weekly “Inside the NFL” series during the football season.
