LONDON — Complete Communications, parent of Celador Prods., the company behind “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” saw pre-tax profits jump 25% to a record £19 million ($27 million) for the year ended Sept. 30. Sales increased 35.5% to $76.7 million.
Privately owned Complete is increasingly diversifying from its bread-and-butter quizzer: Upcoming is its feature film “Dirty Pretty Things,” a Celador Films production for Miramax and BBC Films. Company’s debut pic, in post-production, is helmed by Steven Frears (“High Fidelity,” “The Grifters”) and stars Audrey Tatou (“Amelie”) in her first English-lingo role.
Complete also produces the sitcom “All About Me” for BBC1 and other gameshows such as “Winning Lines” (BBC1) and “The People Versus” (ITV).
