Comedy Central ratings feast on ‘Chicken’

First original pic attracts younger auds

“Porn ‘n’ Chicken,” Comedy Central’s first original movie, delivered a solid 1.4 rating in cable homes, more than double the average primetime rating of the network.

Premiering Sunday at 10 p.m., pic did even better among Comedy Central’s demographic target: Adults 18 to 49 made up 65% of its total viewership. The median age of viewers for the two-hour movie was 24, six years younger than the network’s primetime average.

Pic was about a real-life underground group of Yale students who made headlines when word got out they had produced their own adult film.

Because of the content, Comedy Central had to schedule the movie no earlier than 10 p.m., thus losing the benefit in primetime of the high-rating in the second hour.

One insider said the content of the next original is likely to be a bit softer so the network can play it at 8 or 9 p.m.
