Bell Globemedia's Shea ankling

MONTREAL — Canuck network CTV has appointed Rick Brace prexy, replacing Trina McQueen who retired earlier this year, Ivan Fecan, CEO of CTV parent Bell Globemedia, announced Wednesday.

Fecan also announced that Kevin Shea, executive VP of Bell Globemedia with responsibility for new media ventures is leaving. Bell Globemedia plans to focus on its core businesses of conventional and specialty TV networks.

Brace was formerly precy of CTV Specialty Television, prexy of CTV Specialty Sports and senior VP of CTV Sports.

He oversaw CTV’s specialty channels, including sports webs TSN and RDS, and the Discovery Channel (Canada). Last fall, he handled the launch of six digital specialty channels, including Animal Planet, Discovery Civilization and CTV Travel.

Bell Globemedia’s decision to drop some new media ventures led to Shea’s departure, said Fecan.

“Kevin was given a difficult assignment to expand our lines of business, but times change and we need to concentrate on value creation closer to our core businesses,” said Fecan.
