Vet Rodero replaces Villanueva
MADRID Veteran TV exec and writer Jose Luis Rodero has been tapped director of content at Spanish commercial web Antena 3.
He replaces Manuel Villanueva, who decamped to rival Telecinco in April. Already program director at Antena 3 from 1993-98, Rodero wrote episodes of pioneering sitcom “Farmacia de Guardia.” With former TVE newscaster Ernesto Saenz de Buruaga appointed managing director of Antena 3 in April, Rodero’s hiring suggests that the channel will challenge TVE’s lock on the conservative over-45 demo in Spain.
Villanueva’s departure came in the wake of criticism for the inclusion of a gay character in talent drama “Actors Studio.”
