The Sundance Channel has picked up U.S. TV rights to “Amargosa.”
Writer-director Todd Robinson’s docu features 76-year-old artist-dancer Marta Becket, who stumbled upon an abandoned opera house in Death Valley, Calif., and restored it to working order. Theater is 25 miles from the nearest town, and Becket continues to perform there today.
Pic has garnered prizes at festivals across the country including fests in Providence, Hawaii and Newport Beach.
Deal was negotiated by Larry Greenberg for Sundance and producer Sidney Sherman and Frank Stewart for “Amargosa.”
Docu will air March 25.
