There’s action. Serious attitude. A barrel of laughs. And actor-comedian Bill Bellamy is just the guy to bring it on.
The 37-year-old Newark, N.J., native, who made his mark as a standup comic, has high hopes for his portrayal of undercover L.A. cop Deaqon Hayes on Fox’s “Fastlane” (Wednesday at 9 p.m.).
“I’m expecting the show to be a breakout hit,” Bellamy predicts. “It’s a high-energy action drama with personality, style and some comedy laced in there. You have fast cars and sexy women. And yet you’ll see two guys who don’t get along but will make you laugh while they solve a crime.”
Bellamy’s life and career have hit high gear. Last year, he married actress Kristen Baker and appeared in “The Brothers.” He also has done commercials for AT&T and Pepsi as well as Reebok, with his cousin, NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal.
Other credits include a NAACP Image Award nomination for “Cousin Skeeter,” Nickelodeon’s popular children’s action comedy series. “It was a lot of fun to use my voice in a different way,” Bellamy explains, adding that he’d love to do another kids show or animated pic.
