'CSI: Miami'

Adam Rodriguez has experience with rabid fans.

“People either had never seen it or were fanatic about it,” he says of “Roswell” and his role as attorney Jesse Ramirez, which elevated him to teen heartthrob status.

The 6-foot-1-inch Rodriguez will probably be garnering some new fans this fall when he stars in the CBS spinoff “CSI: Miami.

“I’m a little apprehensive,” the 27-year-old admits of the “guaranteed success” status of his new gig, “because they were saying the same thing when I did ‘Brooklyn South’ and that never became the hit they said it would.”

The Puerto Rican-Cuban Rodriguez originally wanted to become a professional baseball player, but an injury cut the dream short. Still, playing Eric Delko, an underwater recovery expert, isn’t without its athletic challenge.

“I’m not in there wrestling alligators or anything crazy,” he admits of his in-water shots, “but sometimes you wonder if one’s down there. They do associate people with getting fed.”
