It was a double celebration in the Whitford-Kaczmarek household, as husband and wife Bradley Whitford and Jane Kaczmarek each nabbed noms once again.

“The West Wing’s” Whitford, who won the statuette in 2001 and this year is up against three of his co-stars in the supporting actor category, told Daily Variety: “Not only am I not the best actor in this category, I am not even the best actor in my bed at night!”

Kaczmarek (“Malcolm in the Middle”), up for the third year in a row, said the nominations (as welcome as they were) were a bit of a distraction from the day’s plans. “Our daughter is performing in her first ballet recital today. It has been on the calendar for weeks, so once this settles down, we will be back in the world of tutus and last-minute dance runthroughs.”

“Law & Order” exec producer Barry Schindel was overcome with relief after learning of the show’s two noms (which boosts “Law’s” overall nom tally to 49 since 1991). “I feel like a (N.Y.) Yankees manager,” he said. “This show, much like the Yankees, has a long tradition of good fortune, and the pressure mounts before the big moment because you never want the ball to drop under your watch. Thankfully, we’re still holding it.”

“I was thunderstruck,” revealed “Alias” showrunner J.J. Abrams. “I got a call from my wife, who’s in Maine. She was in the middle of nowhere, but she was online and had all the information before anyone. I sat up in bed and I couldn’t believe it. It’s amazing how fast you sit up when you hear the number 11.” Abrams said he “was hoping Jennifer (Garner) would get nominated,” but that he couldn’t even imagine getting 10 other nominations.

“I feel very grownup … and tired,” confessed “Alias” star Jennifer Garner, nominated in the lead actress drama category.

“The Emmy nomination validates this whole year, a year in which I have grown so much.” Garner, who returned home from the “Daredevil” set at 2 a.m., admitted she was fast asleep at 5:38 a.m. “I was up with the first call, though,” she said, “and a triple latte later, I am so excited I could not sleep if I tried.”

“I was debating whether to wake up,” “The Shield” star Michael Chiklis said. “I was so nervous. Actually, I was fine up until a few days ago, when I got a deluge of phone calls with everyone speculating. The pressure started to mount on me, and it’s been a very long two days because I’ve been awake the whole time. Mercifully, I was the first category, and name, and then the waiting was over.”

“I feel like I am part of a team that just made it into the World Cup finals,” said “Six Feet Under” thesp Rachel Griffiths. Griffiths, who received her first nomination Thursday, spoke from London, where she is “spreading the gospel of ‘Six Feet Under’ across the Atlantic.”

“Friends” exec producer Marta Kauffman had 11 good reasons to celebrate, but her biggest thrill was Matt LeBlanc’s lead actor nom. “I have often said it is my goal in life to spread the word on how good an actor he really is,” she said. “People are finally getting to see another side to his acting; he is no longer just ‘the funny guy.’ ”

According to Kauffman, LeBlanc was also “the shocked guy” after learning of his nomination. “I got on my computer and instantly contacted him — he was in a state of shock.”

Due to a week of 6:30 a.m. calls at the “West Wing” set, first-time nominee Dule Hill was awake when the noms were read. “I did not believe it at first,” he said. “And like mother like son: I called my mom to tell her and she did not believe me. She kept saying, ‘Which award?’ She asked me to spell out ‘Emmy’ for her to make sure we were talking about the same thing.”

“We’ve been mercilessly beating up Dule all morning,” “West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin said. “It’s our way of welcoming him to the club.” Commenting on the show’s 21 nods, Sorkin said: “On Monday we began shooting the fourth season, and you would think it was a pilot the way we still swing for the fences.”

Jet lag did not stop Tony To, co-executive producer of “Band of Brothers,” from reveling in the mini’s 19-nomination sweep. To, who heard the news after landing in London from L.A., was quick to give credit where credit was due.

” ‘Band of Brothers’ was infused by the passion and enthusiasm of Tom (Hanks) and Steven (Spielberg),” he said. “We made the series for one reason: to honor the men and women of the Second World War, and when we arrived in Normandy for the premiere, we knew it was in that moment that success would be measured. The nominations are wonderful, but it was then and there when we realized we had passed the test.”

Garnering a nod in the nonfiction program (reality) category was the “perfect way to kick off our next season,” according to “Project Greenlight” executive producer Chris Moore. Moore, who with HBO and Miramax plans to announce the sophomore installment of “Greenlight” next month, told Daily Variety: “The only thing missing from the moment are Ben (Affleck) and Matt (Damon); I keep calling. I can’t reach them!”

On location in Oz, where he is lensing “The Great Raid,” first-time nominee James Franco was about to call it a night when he learned of his nomination, announced close to midnight local time. Thesp, who nabbed a nod for his portrayal of James Dean in the TNT made-for, told Daily Variety the repercussions of the film are more than he ever anticipated. “Getting the job was the cake, this is the icing.”
