Curb Your Enthusiasm
Showrunner: Larry David
Total noms: 2
Emmy pedigree: First year of eligibility
Pro: Admirers of the show consider it the most original comedy to arrive in years and the nomination is an admission that voters may feel the same way as well.
Con: There’s little doubt “Curb” is a love-it-or-hate-it proposition and while some viewers love the skein, others feel strongly in the other direction.
On the fly: “By the nature of the show being improvised and not scripted, you don’t know exactly what’s going to happen so you can’t choreograph the shots. We’re not big on continuity. We’d rather let the actors do whatever they want and try different things,” says exec producer Robert Weide.
Critical viewpoint: “The reason it’s so good is not because it’s on HBO but because Larry David is so talented.” Howard Rosenberg, the Los Angeles Times
