50th anni of Kelly starrer also introduces DVD release
Warner Home Video did what it could to alleviate California’s drought this year by unspooling MGM’s classic musical “Singin’ in the Rain” on Thursday at the Academy. Surviving members of the pic were reunited at the 50th anni reception and Q&A panel discussion that followed.
On Sept. 24 Warner Home Video plans to release a remastered special edition two-disc DVD, which includes making-of docus, commentary from cast and crew, interviews and a previously deleted musical sequence.
Among those attending were stars Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor, Cyd Charisse and Rita Moreno; screenwriters Betty Comden and Adolph Green; script supervisor Dorothy Aldrin-Sasso, dancer Marie Ardell and Gene Kelly’s daughter Kerry Kelly Novick. Michael Feinstein played host.
