‘Spy’ bow a family affair, H’wood-style

Anderson, Paymer, other stars show up with kids in tow

HOLLYWOOD — Robert Rodriguez invited his mom and dad, a few of his nine siblings and just about anyone else who played a role in the director’s upbringing to Sunday’s preem of “Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams.”

Wearing a big white hat and looking like a Texas cowboy outside Mann’s Chinese, Rodriguez said he was glad to see so many families in attendance and urged kids to keep an eye on each other during these troubling times.

Post-screening, the overflow crowd headed across the street for a celebration that likely made Austin resident Rodriguez feel at home: plenty of barbecue chicken and ribs, with carnival games galore.

In attendance were Dimension chief Bob Weinstein, stars Antonio Banderas (with wife Melanie Griffith), Carla Gugino, Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara. Also on hand, with families in tow, were Pamela Anderson, Robert Patrick, David Paymer, Rena Sofer and Haley Joel Osment, supporting his sister, Emily, who stars in the film.
