Skyy’s the limit for Woods

Thesp feted at short film kudos

James Woods was honored June 27 at the 2nd annual Skyy Short Film Awards at the Design Center in West Hollywood. Woods was honored for his achievement in independent filmmaking and for his directorial debut with the short film “Falling in Love in Pongo Ponga.”

The show, hosted by thesp Kevin Pollack, also honored four emerging filmmakers in the short pic format as part of the IFP/West — Los Angeles Film Festival.

The winners were “cowhide,” directed by Gerald Hustache-Mathieu, for fiction; “Shadow Play,” by Dan Blank, for animation; “Salad Days,” by Gustavo Salmeron, for best “cocktail moment”; and “No Dumb Questions,” by Melissa Regan, which won the audience award for best short.
