Outfest’s 20th anniversary, opening-night gala was billed as an event to spotlight divas of every description, gender and sexual orientation. And Thursday’s well-attended bash at downtown L.A.’s glamorous Orpheum Theater didn’t disappoint.
Outfest: the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Film Fest kicked off with a special cocktail reception in honor of Strand Releasing and the indie distrib’s co-prexys, Marcus Hu and Jon Gerrans. Next came a screening of highlights and shorts from previous L.A. Gay and Lesbian Film Festival editions.
Aussie pop thrush Kylie Minogue; thesps Lauren Ambrose, Judith Light, Margaret Cho, Lesley Ann Warren, Sara Rue, Peter Paige and Randy Harrison; helmers Jim Fall, Charles Herman-Wurmfeld and Cheryl Dunye; and fest director Stephen Gutwillig attended the spirited gala and after-party, which featured some of the top female deejays on the club scene.
