‘Fellow’ following

Fall of communism chronicled in play

Playwright John Herman Shaner’s “Fellow Traveler” bowed Thursday night at the Malibu Stage Co.

Attending the performance were screenwriter Robert Towne, Rose Marie, Kristin Andresen and thesps Sally Kellerman, David Groh, Stephanie Zimbalist and Jack Nicholson.

Shaner and Nicholson have worked together on such films as “Goin’ South” and “The Two Jakes.”

The play deals with the fall of communism in Russia, as seen from two divergent American viewpoints. It stars Harold Gould, Michael Kagan and Molly Weber, and was directed by Charles Marowitz.

“Fellow Traveler” runs through Oct. 20th.
