Stars and filmmakers got into the spirit of things at the bow of their “Eight Legged Freaks” Tuesday at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
Producer Dean Devlin said: “What we’ve been doing for years is taking B movies and making them into A movies. The problem with that is, when you spend $80 million or $100 million, you have to make it appeal to a bigger audience and sometimes that destroys the very qualities that made the movie fun to begin with. What we decided to do . . . is shoot the movie for less than $10 million and put $17 million worth of special effects into it. Its like putting a Porsche engine into an Edsel.”
