VENICE — Two Gallic icons, rocker Johnny Hallyday and actor Jean Rochefort, were feted at an intimate dinner Sept. 2 in the garden of the Quattro Fontane hotel on Venice’s Lido.
They co-star in Patrice Leconte’s “The Man From the Train,” which was well received when it screened in competition earlier in the evening at the 59th Venice Intl. Film Festival.
“The gamble of the movie was putting these two guys with totally different itineraries and backgrounds together,” said the film’s producer, Philippe Carcassonne, who has produced seven Leconte pics.
“But they became brothers in arms, each other’s opposite and unconscious twin.”
