Journo found on roof next to building

Allen Myerson, a 47-year-old business editor at the New York Times, fell from the top floor of the paper’s midtown Manhattan building to his death early Thursday morning.

Police are treating the incident as a possible suicide.

According to newspaper spokeswoman Catherine Mathis, Myerson’s body was discovered on the parking garage roof next to the Times building on West 43rd Street just before 10 a.m. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

A 12-year veteran of the Times whose specialty was energy issues, the 47-year-old was the paper’s Dallas bureau chief until 1999 when he moved to New York to become personal business editor. He later became weekend assistant business editor.
