New York film distribution and theater executive

Sidney G. Deneau, longtime New York film distribution and theater executive, died Oct. 8 in Long Beach, N.Y., after a short illness. He was 91.

He began his career during the 1930s and by 1940 was head film buyer for Fabian Theaters. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army and after the war returned Stateside as general manager of Schine Theaters.

In 1949 he became general sales manager for Selznick Releasing Organization; in the 1950s he served in the same capacity for Paramount Pictures Distribution Corp.

During the 1960s he served in an executive capacity for Rugoff Theaters and later operated his own theatre consulting business.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Charleen; a son; and a granddaughter.
