Broadcast engineer

Longtime broadcast engineer James J. Goode, died Sept. 29 in Bennington, Vt. He was 89.

Brooklyn-born Goode began his career in 1934 in NBC guest relations at Rockefeller Center. Six years later, he joined WOR Radio-TV, where he created sound effects for radio dramas including “The Shadow.”

He continued his career with the station as a broadcast engineer until his retirement in 1975.

Goode is survived by two sons, two grandchildren and his brother.
