Elaine B. Auerbach, a longtime entertainment publicist, died May 11 in Bethesda, Md., from complications of emphysema. She was 72.

During the 1970s and ’80s, she worked for a handful of boutique PR agencies owned by Frank Liberman, Gene Shefrin, David and Sandy Brokaw, Wendy Wilkinson and Nan Herst. Earlier in her career, she represented popular bandleader Ray Anthony.

In recent years, she managed apartment buildings in Beverly Hills before relocating to Maryland in 1997.

She is survived by her mother, two brothers and several cousins.
