“I Am Sam” moppet and SAG Award nominee Dakota Fanning, as well as thesps Desmond Harrington (“We Were Soldiers”), James McDaniel (“NYPD Blue”) and Matt Frewer (“Max Headroom”) have been tapped to join the cast of the Sci Fi Network’s 20-hour miniseries “Taken,” from DreamWorks TV and Steven Spielberg. The series, billed as an adventure weaving together the stories of three generations and 50 years of close encounters, is told by a girl named Allie, to be played by 8-year-old Fanning. Also new to the roster are actors Gabrielle Rose, Heather Donahue, Adam Kaufman, Andy Powers, Chad Donella and Emily Bergl. They join Steve Burton, Joel Gretsch, Ryan Hurst, Eric Close, Catherine Dent, Anton Yelchin, Julie Benz, Chad Morgan, Michael Moriarty, James Kirk and Willie Garson in the ensemble cast
The mini, in its seventh month of production in Vancouver, was penned by Leslie Bohem. Show is skedded to air over 10 consecutive nights in December.
