Actors' Equity exec

Angus Duncan, longtime chief executive of Actors’ Equity Assn., died April 21 of natural causes in Houston, Texas. He was 90.

Duncan was born in a show business family that included his actress mother Margherita Sargent and actor-producer-director father Augustin Duncan, who helped co-found the Actors’ Fund of America. Duncan’s aunt (Augustin’s sister) was famed dance creator Isadora Duncan.

He worked as an actor in New York City, then served during World War II in the 26th Special Services Company. After the war, he returned to Manhattan and joined Actors’ Equity. In 1952, he was named executive secretary of the association and remained in that post until his retirement in 1972.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy, a son and daughter, three grandchildren and one great grandson.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in Duncan’s name be made to the Actors’ Fund of America, 729 Seventh Ave., New York, NY 10019.
