Adolph Green ‘party’

Lyricist-book writer

A memorial for lyricist-book writer Adolph Green will be held at the Shubert Theater on West 44th Street at noon Dec. 3.

The longtime collaborator of Betty Comden (“Singin’ in the Rain,” “On the Town,” etc.) died Oct. 24 at 87.

Green’s wife, actress Phyllis Newman, and their children, Adam and Amanda Green, have organized the event, calling it “A Party for Adolph Green.”

“We chose the Shubert because Adolph and I courted there when I was understudying Judy Holliday in ‘Bells Are Ringing,” Newman said.
