Weather drops duo

World Brief

The Weather Channel has pulled the plug on its two Latin American feevees, due to the region’s stormy economic climate.

El Canal del Tiempo and Portuguese-lingo O Canal do Tiempo, which launched six years ago, will cease operating on Friday.

The Atlanta-based Weather Channel said the two feevees could not generate enough in subscriber fees or advertising revenue.

All pay TV programmers in Latin America have been hit by the economic collapse of Argentina, the most heavily cabled country in the region, and by currency depreciation in Brazil.
