Exec to o'see business strategy, direct operations

Daniel A. Stone has been named president and CEO of Space Holding Corp., a multimedia company for business, entertainment and news about space and related industries.

Stone will execute the company’s business strategy, lead its corporate development efforts and direct day-to-day operations.

“Dan’s depth of experience, strategic approach and proven record of success as a media executive are exactly the right mix of skills necessary to lead this company as we continue on a path of focused growth,” said Lou Dobbs, chairman of the board of directors. “I am confident that a disciplined and results-oriented decision-maker such as Dan will translate his past performance into great success at Space.”

Stone said, “There is tremendous value to be realized by developing an integrated multimedia approach to the space market segment and beyond, in terms of both creating a compelling experience for our audience and providing marketers with a cross-media platform to reach our valuable demographic for space-related content.”

Before joining Space Holdings, Stone served as general manager of Global Media & Entertainment for Scient Corp. Previously, he held various executive posts at Turner Broadcasting System, most recently as exec VP of operations and business development for Turner Broadcasting Intl., where he was responsible for launching Turner’s networks and Internet properties around the world, including nation-specific versions of CNN Intl., Cartoon Network and CNN.com.

He also was responsible for Turner’s international satellite and systems divisions. Earlier, he was instrumental in developing Turner’s integrated marketing approach to major advertisers, incorporating the full range of Turner properties.
