NEW YORK — As “Judge Judy” moves into its seventh season, exec producer Randy Douthit will assume director responsibilities.
Douthit becomes one of the only — if not the only — exec producer in syndieland also to serve as a series helmer.
“With this second hat, I have returned to my first true love of television, directing,” Douthit said. “Judge Judy Sheindlin is one of the sharpest individuals to work in this medium and is a director’s dream.”
Douthit’s plaudits include Cable Aces, five Emmys and two Peabodys. He originated and exec produced CNN shows “Larry King Live,” “Crossfire” and “The Capital Gang.”
After leaving CNN, Douthit was exec producer of “Jenny Jones” and executive vice president of Quincy Jones Entertainment.
Syndie hit “Judge Judy,” which launched its new season Sept. 9, is produced by Big Ticket Television and distributed by Paramount Domestic TV.
