Mount tops cast of ABC drama

Thesp to play ex-con drawn to the mob

Anson Mount (“Crossroads”) has nabbed an important regular role in Rod Lurie’s untitled hourlong drama pilot for ABC.

Project, from Touchstone Television and DreamWorks Television, concerns an FBI agent, portrayed by Leslie Bibb, who is investigating a mob family.

Mount will play Rex, a fresh-out-of-prison, trigger-happy livewire who is drawn to the center of the mob clan.

Rex is the last regular role to be set in the project.

David Paymer, Leslie Hope, Julie Ann Emery, Brian Goodman and Jeffrey Sams also star in the pilot under consideration for ABC’s fall 2003 sked.

The Lurie project, originally developed at NBC, is set to roll early next month. Lurie is writer, director and exec producer. Marc Frydman, his producing partner at Battle Plan Prods., is also exec producing.

Credits for Mount, who is repped by William Morris Agency and managed Emily Gerson Saines, also include indie feature “Tully” as well as “City by the Sea.”
