Jeff Lucas has been tapped prexy of advertising sales for USA Network, Sci Fi Channel and USA Cable Emerging Networks. He replaces Jon Spaet, who left to pursue other opportunities.
Gotham-based Lucas will oversee the ad sales departments of all of the company’s cable businesses. He will report to USA Entertainment chief operating officer David Goldhill.
“Jeff’s background is ideal to successfully position USA in the marketplace,” Goldhill said. “We anticipate that he will contribute much to our company.”
Before joining USA, Lucas was VP of Olympic sales and marketing at NBC, where he was responsible for bringing in more than $900 million in sales revenue for the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney. A 20-year vet of the Peacock, Lucas most recently spearheaded sales of the network’s coverage for the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
Assets of the USA Entertainment Group — including its cable nets — will become divisions of the newly created Vivendi Universal Entertainment, a venture announced last December.
