'Maid' helmer was with tenpercenter in the '90s
Writer-director Wayne Wang is poised to return to International Creative Management after an 18-month stint at Creative Artists Agency.
Wang most recently directed Jennifer Lopez in Revolution Studios’ “Maid in Manhattan,” which opens this weekend.
Helmer had been with ICM since the mid-’90s after gaining prominence for directing 1993’s “The Joy Luck Club,” based on Amy Tan’s novel about generational conflict between four Chinese-American women and their mothers, and later, for co-helming with Paul Auster the 1995 indie hit “Smoke” for Miramax.
More recently, Wang made Artisan’s controversial pic “The Center of the World,” a graphically erotic drama about a dot-commer approaching a nervous breakdown and his pricey weekend courtship of a stripper in a Las Vegas hotel.
Other Wang credits include “Chinese Box,” “Blue in the Face” and “Anywhere but Here.”
