Reality skein, 'CSI' part of cabler's 'Vegas Month' event
Viacom is rolling the synergy dice again, scheduling episodes of MTV’s current season of “The Real World” on basic cable network TNN.
Move marks the first time episodes of the longtime MTV franchise will be repurposed on another network, although previous seasons of the show have hit broadcast syndication.
Deal between the Viacom sibling nets is part of a string of Sin City-themed programming TNN has scheduled in October. Linchpin to “Vegas Month” on TNN is the launch of the off-net run of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigations,” which is, of course, is set in Las Vegas.
Episodes from the first season of “CSI” will air on TNN Mondays at 11 p.m.
TNN will telecast “The Real World — Las Vegas” preview Oct. 9 at 9 p.m., with an encore Oct. 17 at 9. The one-hour season premiere will air Oct. 23 at 9.
Among other Vegas fare on TNN in October, WWE brings its action to town Oct. 7 at 9.
In addition, episodes of original series “Oblivious,” “Fame for 15” and “Ultimate Revenge” will have Vegas themes, and a roster of Sin City theatricals will air throughout the month, including “Showgirls,” “Indecent Proposal,” “Viva Las Vegas,” “Destiny Turns on the Radio” and “Leaving Las Vegas.”
