Nickelodeon is reviving “Wild & Crazy Kids,” one of its most successful series of the early 1990s, as a weekly event this summer.
The first of 10 episodes of the sports-themed reality gameshow will debut in primetime, on Monday, July 29, at 6 p.m., with the rest of the episodes airing Mondays at 6 each week thereafter. Additional telecasts will appear on Sundays at 3:30 p.m. during Nick’s GAS block.
Mati Moralejo (“TEENick Summer Concert Series”) will host with several celeb co-hosts throughout the run, including Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara (“Spy Kids'”), Jeffrey Licon and Alvin Alvarez (“The Brothers Garcia”) and Giovonnie Samuels, Lisa Foiles and Kyle Sullivan (“All That”), as well as sports stars such as skiers Bode Miller and Hannah Hardaway and bobsledder Vonetta Flowers.
During each episode of “Wild & Crazy Kids,” a.k.a. “WACK,” two teams of real kids compete in hybrid sports such as go-cart races with blindfolded moms and slam-dunk skateboarding.
Woody Fraser, who brought the original “WACK” to Nickelodeon, is exec producing. Marc Summers is co-exec producing. Sixty-five episodes of the show were produced during the series’ first outing from 1990-92.
