Parseghian Planco, untitled tie the knot
In a deal that will bring together a collection of New York-, London- and Los Angeles-based talent under one banner, Gotham-based management shingle Parseghian Planco will merge with bicoastal shingle Untitled Entertainment.
Parseghian Planco was formed in November 1999 by longtime William Morris Agency reps Gene Parseghian and Johnnie Planco when a change in WMA management lead to a greater focus on L.A. for talent and gave the pair a chance to segue to management.
Untitled was formed four years ago when Jason Weinberg, formerly head of the public relations firm that bore his name, joined forces with talent manager Stephanie Simon; two years later former Propaganda partner Beth Holden-Garland joined the company.
The combination blends Parseghian Planco’s largely New York and London based list of thesps, which include Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Mary-Louise Parker and Miranda Richardson, with Untitled’s L.A. and Gotham-based list of actors, which include Tom Sizemore, Naomi Watts, and Ashton Kutcher, along with hip-hop artist Eve.
“We have very different clients,” said Simon of the appeal the merger with Parseghian Planco, “but both companies have similar boutique sensibilities, so this was as much about integrating our clients around that [principle] than just simply expanding our list.”
Same names for now
For now, the two companies will retain their separate names as Untitled moves into Parseghian Planco’s offices in Gotham and Parseghian Planco sets up shop in Untitled’s L.A. digs. A new name for the merged entity is also being pondered, the new partners said, and should be announced in the coming months.
While the two companies’ principals differ in age — Planco and Parseghian have some 50 years of agenting experience in aggregate — “we all see our job as building careers,” said Parseghian. “Whether a client is just starting out or higher up the ladder, that’s the job, rather than just maintaining them.”
Other Parseghian Planco clients include Joseph Fiennes, Franka Potente, Isabella Rossellini and Olivier Martinez; others on Untitled’s L.A. and Gotham-based list include Terence Stamp, Laura Dern, Gina Gershon, Kip Pardue, Matthew Modine, Courtney Love and Molly Ringwald.
