Press exec involved in TV and film campaigns
NEW YORK — MTV has upped Marnie Malter to vice prexy of communications.
Gotham-based Malter’s responsibilities will include overseeing press strategies for channel’s news and docu division, telepics and special events such as the Video Music Awards. She will also be involved in the campaigns for MTV Films’ theatrical releases, including the upcoming “Jackass: The Movie.”
“Marnie has consistently (managed) numerous media campaigns for MTV,” said senior veepee Jeannie Kedas, to whom Malter will report. “Her fresh ideas and communications skills have been instrumental in launching new programs and franchises for the network.”
As director of communications since 1998, Malter was involved in the media campaign for the 11th season of “The Real World” and the launch of “Total Request Live.”
Before joining MTV, Malter was vice president for publicity at Dan Klores Associates, working with MTV and the HBO/US Comedy Arts Festival. Malter has also held positions at Shandwick Public Relations, YM Magazine and Edelman PR.
