WB exec Janine Jones has been upped to VP of current programming for the Frog network.
Jones, who spent more than a decade in PR before shifting to programming in 1999, will supervise production of several high-profile WB skeins, including returning laffer “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and new half-hours “What I Like About You” and “Greetings From Tucson.” She reports to exec VP of current John Litvack.
“Janine has been an important member of the WB’s executive team for six years,” WB Entertainment president Jordan Levin said. “Her transition from a successful publicity executive to a valued current programming executive has been seamless.”
Jones had most recently served as director of current programming for the WB. She joined the network in June 1996, serving as VP of primetime publicity and reuniting with former Frog PR topper Brad Turell.
Turell gave Jones her PR start in 1986, when he hired her to work in primetime publicity for the then-fledgling Fox network. At Fox, Jones worked on campaigns for signature skeins such as “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “In Living Color.”
After leaving Fox, Jones jumped to NBC, where she helped launch “Friends” and “3rd Rock From the Sun.” She was honored by the Publicists Guild of America for her work on “Friends.”
As a Frog publicist, Jones helped lead the PR launch for the net’s critically hailed “Felicity.”
