“CSI: Miami” executive producer Stephen Zito has left the series before it even made its fall debut on CBS. .
Zito, who served as a consultant on the episode of “CSI” that served as a backdoor pilot for “CSI: Miami,” joined the spinoff in April as its showrunner.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Ann Donahue, Carol Mendelsohn and Anthony Zuiker continue as exec producers on “CSI: Miami,” which comes from CBS Prods., Alliance Atlantis and Bruckheimer Films. Skein, which stars David Caruso, airs Mondays at 10 p.m. this fall.
All parties involved called the sudden exit a “mutual parting of the ways.”
“Everyone at CBS has tremendous respect and admiration for Stephen Zito,” a CBS spokesman said. “It didn’t work out for ‘CSI: Miami,’ but we certainly hope to work with him on another project very soon.”
Zito joined “CSI: Miami” from the Eye’s military drama “JAG,” where he served as co-executive producer. Zito’s other credits include “Gabriel’s Fire,” “Midnight Caller” and “Space: Above and Beyond.” He’s repped by ICM.
