France 2’s Cecile Negrier has Noah Wyle on the brain.
The artistic director of series and TV movies at France’s second-most-watched web may have an obsession with “ER.”
The hourlong drama has brought in spectacular auds for the Gallic pubcaster (it’s now airing the show’s eighth season) and Negrier’s next challenge is “to find the next ‘ER,’ ” which airs Sunday nights.
That doesn’t mean, however, that the station is looking to replace “ER” on Sunday night, but weekend primetime slots are where the web runs afoul of private web TF1 and the scrappier M6. So France 2 is looking for another big hit to help it rise above the rest.
But the web won’t disclose how deep it’s willing to dig into its pockets for a blockbuster. French webs are notoriously secretive about their budgets, and France 2 is no exception.
“In France we never talk about that,” Negrier says. “Sorry, but that’s impossible.”
