Cynthia Watros (“Titus”) will join the cast of ABC’s “The Drew Carey Show” when the laffer enters its eighth season this fall.
Watros, whose credits include a Daytime Emmy Award-winning turn on CBS sudser “The Guiding Light,” will portray a new character named Alison, a recent divorcee who has harbored a crush on Drew since they went to high school together.
Cast addition follows the news that an overhaul of the show, which Warner Bros. Television produces in association with Mohawk, has been under way (Daily Variety, July 22).
Among the changes announced during ABC’s press tour this month was the exit of longtime castmember Christa Miller, who portrays the character Kate O’Brien. Miller will leave after the second episode of the coming season.
