ABC is sentencing “The Chair” to the chair.
On Wednesday, the Alphabet web pulled the plug on the John McEnroe-hosted quizzer after skein’s disastrous first outing in a new Monday timeslot. It’ll be replaced by “The Bachelor,” a relationship-oriented reality show from Telepictures set to bow March 25 at 9 p.m. — one day after ABC’s Oscarcast.
Next week, ABC will fill the 9 p.m. Monday slot with an ABC News special. A “Before They Were Stars” spec will do fill-in duty on March 18.
Five unaired episodes of “The Chair” remain; when they’ll run is unclear.
“The Chair” started out promisingly when it bowed in January in a Tuesday timeslot, but numbers soon started to fade. Skein was in competish with Fox’s similarly themed “The Chamber,” which also died quickly after its January bow.
