Vet to o'see business aspects of original music for film, TV projects

Veteran Sony Pictures Entertainment exec Shelly Bunge has been upped to executive VP of music business affairs and administration at the studio’s music group, reporting directly to SPE’s senior VP and general counsel, Leah Weil.

Bunge, who succeeds the retiring Robert Holmes in Culver City, will oversee all the business aspects of original music for Sony’s film and TV projects, including the acquisition, publishing and sales of music rights and properties.

Exec’s current projects include the scores to tentpole actioners “Spider-Man” and “Men In Black II” as well as CGI comedy “Stuart Little II.” She also has worked on music for such Sony pics as “Ali” and “Charlie’s Angels.”

Prior to her promotion, Bunge had been senior VP of music business affairs and administration since 1996. She got her start at Sony 11 years ago as a staff attorney in music legal affairs. Before joining the company, she worked at L.A. law firm Wyman, Bautzer, Kuchel & Silbert.
