Programming features 'Jazzfest,' films, docs
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival will be the highlight of “Hot Summer Nights,” a monthlong music marathon to air on Trio in August.Ten-hour “Jazzfest 2002,” to be hosted by India.Arie, will run a musical gamut from gospel to zydeco. Art net will air the special — which also features comedian Amy Sedaris as a reporter roving through the Big Easy — Aug. 17 and 18 in two parts. Each evening of “Hot Summer Nights” will be hosted by musician Rufus Wainwright. Sked includes films, original specs and docs, including U2 concert pic “Rattle and Hum” and Dylan doc “Don’t Look Back.” Specials include tributes “Almost Elvis” and “Death of a Princess.” Latter is an original opera made for the small screen to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the death of Princess Diana. Over 200 artists from around the world will appear in some capacity during the marathon.
