EMI bows indie distrib for U.K.

City Slang first to board

LONDON — EMI has set up an umbrella distribution company for indie record labels in the British market, Labels UK.

The subsid is based on the Brit music major’s established Labels venture on the continent, set up in 1995.

Labels UK’s first licensing deal is with City Slang Records.

City Slang already had a deal with Labels, as does Mute, Wall of Sound, and a number of other indies.
