Cheap CDs at issue

World Brief

Warner’s and Universal’s Australian music distribution arms will appeal a $A1 million ($523,000) federal court fine for refusing to sell product to retailers who import cheap CDs.

The monoliths are believed to have used their huge market power to abuse Australia’s Trade Practices Act. In the future, they must supply retailers with CDs, regardless of whether those retailers have acquired copies of CDs from cheaper offshore sources.
