Pober, Weaver nabbed
HOLLYWOOD — Janice Pober has been named senior VP of corporate affairs and Keith Weaver has joined Sony Pictures Entertainment as VP of government affairs.
Pober, who previously served as VP, will continue to report to Hope Boonshaft, exec VP of external affairs for Sony Pictures Entertainment. In her new position, she is responsible for overseeing the implementation of SPE’s corporate philanthropy and community relations activities.
Legislative, regulatory issues
Weaver will be responsible for targeted legislative and regulatory issues affecting SPE such as copy protection, technology, privacy, taxes, labor, broadband, cable and satellite. Weaver, who formerly served as staff director of the California State Redistricting Office, will report to Boonshaft.
Previously, Weaver spent two years as senior deputy to state Sen. Herschel Rosenthal of the San Fernando Valley. In that post he created and implemented a strategic community relations plan, mediated community conflicts and advised the senator on community issues and legislation.
A 20-year industry veteran, Pober joined Columbia Pictures in 1984. After a two-year tenure in the marketing department of Lorimar Motion Pictures, she returned to Col in 1988 as director of talent relations. She was named executive director of corporate relations in 1991.
